Though a bit annoying and childish of the record company to do this, it's not too bad. The performance is great, especially Page. My note about the 67-July-22 recording: In order to fit all this on one disc, I trimmed about 3min of post song talking & audience chatter from the 67-July-22 recording. The SQ of the parts where Keith Relf talks after a song is so poor, that you are straining to hear what he says (see below note about the vocals in this recording). I made sure not to cut any part that has Page doing any extensive tuning or strumming after a song, as he does after T11 (or T2, depending on how you look at it). Other than one, the transitions are pretty seamless and not noticeable. Tracks that were trimmed are: t11, t13, t14, t15, t16, t17 (which are really t1, t3, t4, t5, t6, t7 if they were not being added to the end of another recording). Notes that came with the 67-July-22 recording: This is a recording of the Yardbirds in Santa Monica, CA. The source is a very low gen cassette dub from Jan 1986 which lists the recording date as 1968. However, I agree with this web page http://www.chromeoxide.com/yardbird.htm which says the actual date was July 22, 1967. This is an audience recording. By modern standards it is terrible but keep in mind it's almost 40 years old. The main problem is the vocals are very low in the mix and distorted. Jimmy "Magic Fingers" Page comes through loud and clear, and the rhythm section is mostly audible. I slightly boosted the bass and cut the midrange with my trusty old 12 band equalizer, and tinkered with levels in Cool Edit Pro 2.1. No art but I have included two pictures from around this time period for someone else to work with. Presented in FLAC 1.1.4. http://www.chromeoxide.com/yardbird.htm
